We’ve been lucky to have Alex Waldron with us this summer! We are sad to see him leaving today; but happy he is pursuing his Bachelors Degree. A student of Western University, Alex is studying Plastics Engineering and is a member of their sail team. He grew up on Orcas Island where he discovered his passion for sailing and even restored his own 13’ Laser Sailboat.

Alex’s main responsibilities have included bottom painting and zincing; however he has many other talents and interests as well. Alex is comfortable working with fiberglass and also has knowledge in mechanics.

February Snow

Although the ground hog said spring was on the way, and despite the blooming daffodils next to the shop, we have snow today! So instead of hauling boats like we had planned we are shoveling driveways, walkways and stairs today.

Mother Nature

Mother Nature always has the last word! To remind us of her awesome power, the strong winds that blew through on November 22, 2010 shook the yard up a bit. In addition to some clean up on land we have already taken care of, repairs to the boat houses/docks are underway this week.

Customer of the Year for 2009

Bill Grewohl is our customer of the year for 2009! Bill and his wife Mary Ann have been moorage customers for a few years now. He has wowed us with his impressive, self contained, portable BBQ unit. If you are lucky you’ll visit the yard on a day when he puts on a lunch.

This year we’ve experienced the circle of life. In January, Alisa and her husband welcomed their first child, Vera Jane. She was Nourdine’s first great-grandchild and was named after Nourdine’s late wife.

After enjoying a delightful 95th birthday party in September, Nourdine experienced a brief illness prior to his death on October 11, 2009. This place isn’t the same without him and yet we keep on going in his memory.
